About the work

Cyanotypes on Whatman filter paper.

I often think about Anna Atkins and her cyanotypes. I wonder why she did not use a camera. Not a single camera-based photograph by her has survived.

Anna Atkins was an English botanist and photographer. Her work British Algae: Cyanotypic Impressions is considered as the first book illustrated with photographs. She is often mentioned as the first woman photographer.
